The IRS has launched a new mobile app, replacing IRS2Go and giving taxpayers more ways to securely access IRS tools and account services from their mobile devices.
How to Download the IRS App
The new IRS app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Taxpayers who already have IRS2Go do not need to download a separate app.
Users with automatic updates enabled will receive the IRS app through the normal update process. Those without automatic updates can manually update their existing app through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Features Available in the New IRS App
Taxpayers can securely sign in to the official IRS app to access selected account information and self-service options, including:
- Check the status of refunds and amended returns.
- View available account balance information.
- Make payments and review payment activity.
- View select IRS notices and letters.
- Access available tax records and transcripts.
- Manage certain profile settings and communication preferences.
- Access an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN).
The app expands secure mobile access to selected IRS Online Account services. It does not replace IRS.gov or IRS online accounts.
